We purchased this when our daughter was born. She is almost 5 now, so she is using it as a full-size bed. We are impressed with the durability and reliability we've had all these years. It's so simple to "convert" as your child grows and the finish is easy to clean, maintain and touch-up.
This crib is well made, with quality hardware and very nice fit. I've seen cribs for twice the money that are of comparable quality. I do think it is made of pine, rather than a hardwood so it will ding somewhat more easily than, say, oak. But, you're not going to be playing basketball on it, so that should be fine. Assembly is very straightforward but as mentioned by others, some bolts are provided with exactly the number needed so try not to lose anything during assembly. There is a nice pouch under the base to hide the instructions for later use. It is made in Taiwan, not mainland China, in case that matters to you.
Some reviews made me concerned that it was, in fact, painted rather than stained. I can assure you that it is stained and the grain shows through nicely even with the espresso finish.
The base crib comes with all that you need to convert it to a toddler bed. You'll need to find some space to store the extra pieces for a few years. I also decided to get the conversion pieces to make it into a full bed. I do recommend that you do this. Who knows where this manufacturer will be when you decide to convert it.
From other reviews, it sounds like the dressers and other pieces that match the crib are (1) not manufactured by the same company (2) of inferior quality. I decided to stay away from that stuff. The good news is that the toddler bed conversion has a couple of small pieces of finished wood you can take with you furniture shopping locally if you like to match the espresso finish.
We bought 2 of these cribs for the twins that we are about ready to have. They came in so fast compared to the furniture we ordered for my daughter 5 years ago. We did have to put it together, but it was very easy. The construction is solid pine wood and to me nice quality. The color is Fantastic!! I was hopeing that since we had to order 2 beds that the color would be consistant, and it was!! They were even made a few months apart. We also ordered the dressers in the Espresso color and they match perfectly as well. Overall, for the price, it's great quality and looks great!
We researched cribs for a few weeks. I took a chance on this Jayden model after reading good reviews from many sites. Assembly was as expected and took about an hour with two people (taking our time and double checking each step). Finished product is impressive and very sturdy. Color being black makes matching it with other furniture easier. One of the main factors in our decision was many of the conversion cribs seemed to have exposed screw heads on the front making it look cheaper. The Jayden keeps most screws hidden adding to the appearance. I think most would be happy with this crib, especially if you find a coupon code like I did. Time will tell but we are happy so far. Please note: Box will be heavy (+/- 80 lbs) and awkward for one person to move. Have some help!
